White people:You have to wait for the facts before you talk about Ferguson!
Eyewitnesses:He was on his knees with his hands up.
Medical examiner:There was no gunpowder residue on Mike Brown, no sign of struggle, and there were entry wounds on the inside of his arms and the top of his head, implying he was on his knees with his hands up.
Convenience store owner and clerk:There was no robbery and we didn't call the cops.
Ferguson PD:Okay, we admit it, Wilson didn't know anything happened at the convenience store and we determined no crime was committed.

White people:Nobody can say what happened! We still have to wait for the facts to come in!

Where were all those people who are demonizing and shaming Beyonce and Nicki Minaj for exercising their sexual autonomy when Robin Thicke and Eminem were releasing one sexually violent song after another. I thought you were trying to look out for young girls and women and the content they consume.

rly tho. this is a game ppl play. surely someone has come up w a term for it by now. u see it when ppl r like, “well.. well YOU are actually being MORE racist for even thinking this is about race!!” like u dont actually care abt anti-racism work. u just wanna police ppl of color. and yall dont actually care abt feminism. u just wanna police women and instigate shit

"The police can go to downtown Harlem and pick up a kid with a joint in the streets. But they can’t go into the elegant apartments and get a stockbroker who’s sniffing cocaine."

Noam Chomsky

I’ve seen more drugs behind the brick walls of my private college than I have ever even heard of back home in my hood.

(via newwavefeminism)

It’s a known fact that you will find more drugs, especially hard drugs, in the suburbs than in the hood

There are so many drug users & dealers at my job right now it isn’t even funny, & I’m not talking about (just) weed.

I think it’s too easy to lazily justify my vices by saying to myself, “it’s ok because it’s socially acceptable.”

That kind of logic is really fucked up and hypocritical when I stop to think about it and I know I can do better.

William Bratton: Investigate Ryo Oyamada's Death →

il-tenore-regina:

Ryo Oyamada, a 24 year old student from Japan, was struck and killed by an NYPD vehicle in a hit & run.  Witnesses say the police car had no lights or sirens on and was going over 70 mph.  The released footage by NYPD was proven to be heavily altered in a cover-up, showing “lights” on the vehicle, when compared to footage from the NY Housing Authority on the same street with the same timestamp.

On a personal note: I know that this will probably not be shared or reblogged very much, because Asians are not very prominent in American culture.  I understand this, because Asians (like me) are partially at fault for being so passive.  But I am begging you to please consider signing this petition out of human decency.  Ryo was just a student walking home, then struck by a nearly silent police cruiser going at excess speed, and the NYPD covered it up.

Here is the side-by-side comparison of the released video footage, including updates from the case.  *Edit*  This article contains a link to a graphic video moments after the crash, showing the body of Ryo Oyamada and NY citizens yelling at the police.  Please advise, it is highly disturbing.

And the following is an excerpt from the petition, which as of now only has 286 signatures.

"In this country American means white. Everybody else has to hyphenate."

Toni Morrison (via sarahjeanalex)

even the native ppl of this land have to fucking hyphenate how backwards is that

whiteness is a terrible thing

even my mom and all that generation use “american” when they mean “white ppl in america.” they don’t call other poc “american.” bc that is what they were taught. she’s a fucking citizen and has been forever. i was born here. she does not call me nor herself american
